Tourtellotte Memorial High School is the highest ranking public high school in Windham County according to Connecticut Magazine. The school is located in North Grosvernordale, and is a small school with an enrollment of 361 students. There is a student to teacher ratio of 10:1 – one of the lowest in the state. Students are offered a wide curriculum that well prepares them either for entry into college or straight into the workplace, including advanced placement and honors programs as well as a variety of vocational electives. The school regularly sees at or above state average results in the annual CAPT examinations and in 2008 students particularly excelled in the science exam, with 93 percent of students achieving at or above proficient level.
